Benzyl benzoate lotion is used to treat scabies and body lice, as it kills the parasites that cause itching and skin irritation. It is absorbed through the skin and directly affects the parasites nervous system, leading to their death and relieving annoying symptoms such as itching, redness, and inflammation. It is usually applied to the skin after washing and drying it well.
It should be gently massaged until it is evenly distributed over the entire affected area. It is preferable to leave it on the skin for at least eight hours before washing it off. It is recommended to repeat the treatment after several days, according to the doctor instructions.
Clothes and bedding should be washed to prevent recurrence of the infection. The lotion should be avoided in the eyes, mouth, and sensitive areas. Benzyl benzoate should be used with caution in children and the elderly and under medical supervision.
